Cock of the Walk

Looking for a family fun restaurant? Don’t overlook Cock of the Walk. Located in the Music Valley area near Opry Mills Mall and Opryland Hotel. It  is also a quick drive from Jellystone Park, Cooter’s Place and the Willie Nelson Museum.

As you enter the restaurant there is plenty of parking and a large lobby. We were seated quickly even on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is down home southern food with a focus on fried catfish and fried chicken. Everyone can order their own meal but it is served family style and there is plenty to share. Skillet bread (cornbread in a cast iron skillet) is brought out hot to the table. Your server will then step back from your table and throw your skillet bread in the air and catch it back in the pan. I don’t think I could do it and my kids were amazed!

We ordered the fried catfish and fried chicken adult meals as well as a kids’ fried shrimp meal. The food is served on metal plates with metal cups. My kids thought it was like camping and I think we had enough to feed 6 people! Keep that in mind while ordering – the portions are NOT small and you can share. Check out the menu before you go.
